We start our day with music, movement and a story. Then we play games with phonics (aka letters & sounds), discuss patterns, seasons, dates, time, numbers, etc. with calendar math. We get up and play a large movement game on the playground with sand & water toys. We enjoy a healthy snack. Then it's time for free choice centers. We have a block center with cars, trucks, motorcycles, dinosaurs, animals, people, etc. Dramatic play with puppets, dress up clothes, role play in our restaurant or grocery store complete with food, utensils, menus, etc. Magnets, playdoh, paint, puzzles, etc. Then it’s time for a picnic style lunch; children bring their lunch from home. Then we enjoy some individual quiet time with our favorite stuffed character and a few books. We do not nap unless we feel the need. The second half of the day is split between math manipulative table games and/or seasonal arts and craft projects. We enjoy a healthy snack and venture outdoors for one more playground session before our day ends.
