Why My School

My name is Amie Trujillo. As a classroom teacher with 25 years of experience in public schools, I became frustrated with the traditional school system where children are grouped by their age rather than by their abilities. I have often had students whose skills were either ahead of, or behind, the curriculum that was being taught. The predetermined curriculum was rarely inspiring and the calendar that came with it was set at an impossible pace. In my experience, children who struggled rarely had time to get caught up and the children who were above that level had no reason to be engaged.

This inspired me to create a school where students can have fun while learning the skills that they need, at their own pace. My School is a place where no child ever feels like they are struggling to learn and no parent ever feels alone.

I chose the name “My School” is because every time I saw a child in a grocery store, they always smiled and said, “Hey! You go to my school!” It is not about me personally, it is about the parent or the student who calls it their school.

I have experience teaching in public schools in Texas and in Arizona. I hold a BIS in Early Childhood Education from The University of Texas at El Paso and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum with an Emphasis in Reading from Grand Canyon University.

I believe that our children live in a world of endless possibilities. My School’s goal is to inspire them to feel a passion for learning new things and to help them know how to use all of the resources available to them so that they can teach themselves anything that they want to learn.

*We maintain current Fingerprint Clearance cards, Food Handlers cards and CPR/First Aid for staff members.
